Edgewonk
Takes a different path: annual-only pricing ($169–197/year), zero AI, deep focus on trading psychology — emotional tagging, Tiltmeter, discipline analytics. Loyal following among traders who believe the mental game is the whole game. Dated desktop-style interface, manual imports, no mobile app.
TradesViz
Budget option with one of the more generous free tiers (up to 3,000 trades/month with limits). Paid from $24.99/month; AI Q&A reserved for the Platinum tier. Multi-asset, 100+ broker imports. Interface and analytics depth generally rated a step behind TradeZella and TraderSync.
DFamily — In Our Own Words
We built our journal because we're a trading team first — we trade NASDAQ and gold daily, and none of the existing journals gave us the market context we actually use: options flow, daily bias, red-news guidance. So we built it in.
What it is: an AI trading journal at $18/month Pro and $39/month Elite, with a 7-day free trial. AI chart analysis on every paid tier with no message caps. The War Room — our daily NASDAQ and gold bias feed with options-flow data — is included: delayed for Free/Pro users, real-time for Elite. A Chrome extension captures trades from TradingView and broker pages. MT5 imports, futures, forex and crypto supported natively, in English and 中文.
What it isn't: we don't have 500+ one-click broker syncs — our import path is MT5 plus the Chrome extension. If your workflow depends on automatic sync from a US retail broker, the tools above will fit you better today. We're also a younger company than Tradervue or Edgewonk.
How to Choose — What Actually Matters
Forget brand loyalty. Five questions decide this:
- What do you trade? US stocks/options → TradeZella, Tradervue, TraderSync all fit well. Futures, forex, MT5, crypto → narrow the list to tools with native support for those markets (TradesViz, DFamily, TraderSync).
- Will you actually journal? If you've never kept a journal, start with a free tier — Tradervue's free plan or TradesViz's — before paying anything. The habit matters more than the tool.
- How much AI do you really need? Check the fine print: message caps, tier locks, credit meters. "AI included" means very different things at $18/mo and $79.95/mo.
- What's the 3-year cost? $29/mo is ~$1,050 over three years. Annual plans and flat pricing change the math — Edgewonk's $169/year is $507 total.
- Does it make you better, or just busier? The point is feedback loops: log → review → adjust. Any tool that adds friction to logging will get abandoned.
